The Hilo smart home lets customers more efficiently manage their electricity consumption through connected devices (thermostats, switches, etc.) as well as future solutions for water heaters and home chargers for electric vehicles. With Hilo, Quebecers collectively supply a virtual electrical power plant to free up available energy, which can then be used for other purposes, such as transportation electrification or to delay infrastructure investment.
Hilo’s dynamic team is composed of smart home solution experts as well as marketing and product development specialists, all of whom are ready to answer your questions.
In 2018, Hydro-Québec developed the Évolution project to relieve pressure on the power grid and make better use of available energy. In 2019, Hilo became a subsidiary and launched its first smart home pilot project. In 2020, the service was officially made available to the public. Since May 2022, Hilo has offered a smart demand response service to companies and will continue to broaden its connected product and service offering in the years to come.
