The Roussillon regional county municipality (RCM) includes the following 11 municipalities: Candiac, Châteauguay, Delson, La Prairie, Léry, Mercier, Saint-Constant, Saint-Isidore, Saint-Mathieu, Saint-Philippe, and Sainte-Catherine. Already boasting the largest RCM population in Quebec, Roussillon has experienced strong demographic growth in recent years, with young families attracted by the quality of life in local communities. The young population is what sets the region apart.
The Roussillon RCM, which employs more than 40 people, is recognized for high-quality services and the ability to bring local stakeholders together to work on key, long-term initiatives for the benefit of the entire community.
The Roussillon RCM regional county municipality was created in 1982. On January 1, 2016, the Roussillon RCM merged with the Roussillon Local Development Centre, which had been dissolved by the Quebec government. To fulfill its new mandate, the RCM created the Joint Development and Land Use Planning Department and hired a director. In 2019, the new Economic Development Division was created.
The construction sector contributes significantly to our economy and plays an important role in the development of our municipalities. In 2021, 1,795 home renovation permits were granted, for a total of nearly $44 million. In addition, some 3,000 real estate projects were started in the past year or are currently underway. Construction companies in Roussillon are in demand like never before.
